• DNA report- Mastering metabolism in menopause- for weight management, energy and cardiovascular health

As we approach menopause our bodies go through major metabolic changes.

As oestrogen levels decline, our bodies abilities to regulate blood sugar levels are impacted and we become more insulin resistant, meaning insulin cannot shuttle sugar into our cells as it should, causing symptoms of weight gain, high blood pressure, constant hunger, carb cravings, and tiredness.

Do you have signs of metabolic dysfunction?

-unable to go at least 3 hours without eating? feel shaky, weak or irritable if late for a meal? have you noticed skin tags? find it hard to shift weight? do you have PCOS? have you been told your blood sugar is at pre-diabetic level or have you been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes?

Metabolic ‘flexability’ enables us to easily switch from burning carbohydrates for energy to burning fats and this is what we want to acheive, but when insulin levels are high this makes it much harder to access fat for energy.

The metabolic DNA report enables us to work with your genetic pathways responsible for-

    -Appetite regulation

    -sugar metabolism

    -fat metabolism

    -cholesterol metabolism

    -cellular energy production

A nutrition plan is then created to work with your genetic strength’s and weaknesses, enabling you to acheive metabolic flexability with increased energy and the ability to lose weight. It is much more complex than calorie counting alone or to ‘eat less and move more’ as we are often told.

  • DNA report- Mood, Stress and sleep support

Stress and sleep, two areas that can become increasingly problematic as we navigate perimenopause.

The two go hand-in-hand as when we are stressed we don’t sleep, and when we don’t sleep we get more stressed!

This plan looks at genes responsible for our mood and relaxation, which then enables me to provide detailed recommendations for nutritional support to optimise these pathways, alleviating symptoms such as anxiety, rage and low mood.

The nervous system report can also be supportive for those with ADHD.

As someone who has experienced anxiety and panic attacks, I have found working with food to support mood and optimising neurotransmitter balance extremely beneficial in the resolution of my symptoms.

Chronic stress is detrimental to our health, it can cause hormone imbalance and drives systemic inflammation.

Although we cannot avoid all stressors in our lives, by unlocking our genetic code and knowing where our weakness and imbalances lie, we can support our nervous system and learn how to better balance our stress response to reduce the affect it can have on our general and mental health.

Also focussing on certain nutrients that we can include within your diet to support the reduction of night sweats, joint pain and headaches, all of which can impact the quality of our sleep.

Circadian rhythms play a vital role in our ability to sleep. We each have an internal 24-hour clock that regulates sleep and alertness.

The stress and sleep plan addresses the many factors that can disrupt this rhythm, including how well we can make melatonin ( a sleep signalling hormone) from serotonin.

There is also the option to add in the nutrient core report which looks at how well you metabolise caffeine, a stimulant which can affect your sleep pattern.
